Where the %&*$ can I get some help or information on repairing the on/off switch to my 10 year old cpap machine? I like it and HATE HATE AND LOATHE LOATHE LOATHE the newer machines!! I want to keep the machine I have and fully paid for long ago. T/he ONLY problem I have EVER had with this machine is the now present inability to consistently get the on/off button to work. I have to play with it and press it repeatedly until it turns on. Sometimes it is also hard to get it to turn off. The design engineering of the on/off was insufficient for so many presses and it simply needs replacement or alteration, NOT A #$#^ replacement of the machine. I have changed my pressure level and like that "i have hacked into the menu system to have control over my settings!! It is my health/breathing/sleeping not some damn bureaucrat/provider/doctor's !!! Think I am fiercely independent?? LOL Anyway, I have even considered pulling the machine apart and mechanically replacing the on/off mechanism with a simple mechanical rocker on/off switch. It is a RESMED Autoset Vantage S8 machine produced in 2007 and was supplied to me by a durable medical supply company that no longer exists. I do not even see the model listed in the RESMED web site anymore as a discontinued product. I do see the same looking hardware such that the on/off button design on that older hardware must be present. Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Is the dodgy switch on top of the unit or on the back where the power cord connects? Either way, a number of my patients tackle this problem by leaving the machine on and turning it on & off at the wall. If this is too hard, you could get a power cord with a normal rocker switch built into it. They are fairly common for bedside lamps. You could probably get one spliced into the power cord you already have. That would let you keep using your beloved machine.

It has been a while since the OP. These switches are repairable and replaceable. A cheap kit from Amazon to repair tv remote controls can be used and there is a repair facility in Florida that has the switch membranes for around $20.
