Previously I had read where someone questioned whether you could boil the pillows to give them additional life. There was concern about the gel and the effect boiling would have on them.

I boiled two pillows for 30 minutes without any damage to the pillows and it did soften them up for additional comfortable wearing.

Interesting. Some plastics have a significant water content. Soft contacts are an example. Perhaps what you are accomplishing is getting some water back into the plastic.

This is interesting particularly because the Nuance is the mask that I've been using and yes the pillows do get a bit out of shape over time and as most moulded things have a memory that can be reset by heat and these are possibly held out of shape by the gel then I can see how heat might free them up to remember their original shape.

I soak mine often in very hot water but not actually boiling.

Will give it a try one day. :)

It would be worth trying out whether boiling for 10 mins would have the same effect. We have our masks sterilised at just under boiling temperature (I think) for about 3 hours at a time. The older gel masks usually didn't cope, but the newer ones, like the Nuance, seem OK with it. Still, If boiling for a shorter time can produce the same results, it would help extend the lifespan of your mask.
