I have had my cpap since March. A few weeks ago My Air app started showing really high number of episodes per hour. I have thought they were too high for a long time but I read here that coughing and other things are counted as an episode by the machine. Now the numbers are always crazy high. Last night was 19.7 yet I thought I slept well and feel ok. I am going to talk to the tech at the supply place on Tues and I am hoping they say my machine is not working correctly. If it is, I am afraid they will be sending me for a new titration study.
...just my experience...I snerk/snort a few times per night and usually cough at that time(and others) to clear my throat...I have never had these incidents register as an event...I am 4mos in to treatment and have gone from 50+ to less than 2, often less than 1..when I got my machine, I insisted on an auto set ResMed10 to avoid having to have an additional titration study...I use nasal pillows and often have LARGE air leakage thru my mouth. I have alleviated much of that with a (much hated) chin strap...the above are simply my experiences and should not be taken as hard advice...... madjack
That is the machine I have. My settings are 6-10, so fairly low. Either the machine is faulty or I now need higher than 10 to keep my airways open. I am going to take in and talk to the tech on Tues.
I have mine set at 8.5 to 14...The machine tells me, it breaks my apneas at around 11.5...when I first started therapy, it would break at 12.5...I find it much easier to breath at 8.5 with minimal leakage...when the machine detects an event it ramps up until the event end, usually at 11.5...if you press the home button and big knob button at the same time, it will take you to the clinicians menu, where you can make changes to all parameters... be careful of making large changes as YMMV............ madjack
The tech at my supply place says my machine stays on 9.5 all the time. Since it is set to go from 6-10, I still question if it is broken. However, I also realized that when my events have been high, I have been sleeping on my back and that is not how I normally sleep. So they are going to increase the pressure on the machine remotely. We shall see how that works, or if indeed I do have a defective machine.
