I’ve had my machine for 2 years, using same machine and mask and have never had any problems until 3 weeks ago. Sometimes it will wake me up and other times it starts right when i put it on. It’s like a flapping noise coming from the elbow piece.

I’ve replaced the elbow piece, mask and tubing and it is still doing it.

I’m so frustrated because I’ve been unable to use my machine.

My pressure is set from 4 to 10. I use my cpap only for snoring.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What make and model of a machine and mask are you using? And which elbow piece are you talking about? The one right at the mask?

ResMes Airsense 10 and the air fit f10 mask and there’s only 1 elbow piece, one end goes into mask and other goes to the hose.

My understanding of the F10 is that it uses a ring right at the elbow to vent the purge air. You may want to try cleaning it with a toothbrush to make sure the vent holes are all open. I can't think of anything else that could be causing a flapping noise. I'm sure you have pushed the two buttons and disconnected and reconnected the elbow to the mask to make sure it it not loose. It is a pretty simple mask.

Hi jennab73

I was wondering if you might be talking about the effect that was discussed a few months ago.

Discussion about flapping effect

It creates a kind of flapping noise.

The more we know and learn the less we know and achieve sometimes.

Sometimes the nasal pillows themselves can make a popping noise depending how you are breathing, this is not serious, but it does disturb the sleeper. If you change the way you are breathing it will stop instantly, but will return if you go back to breathing the same way. I get this sometimes, it is annoying, but breathing deeply get rid of it. Or just lift the pillows away slightly and try again, but if your breathing settles back to the same pattern it will return. It can be quite annoying, trouble is, when the pressure is low you do not feel the pillows moving, they just flex slightly with a popping noise.
