I’ve done a ton of research and after speaking with some on this board it seems that the ResMed AirSense 10 for her is the clear choice as far as CPAP machines go.
So my question is this...
How can I make sure this is the machine I get? I’m in the US if that matters. Does my Doctor need to specifically write that machine down? Will I be able to choose even if he doesn’t ? Do most insurances approve a cheaper one and force you to pay the difference ?
Any tips hints or information is appreciated . My doctor is foreign, and no offense, but I feel like it’s going to be a struggle convincing him To write a script for a female version of a specific machine .
Thank you for the replies.
One question I have is this: how bad is it that my Oxygen levels dipped that low? can this cause irreversible brain damage?
Also, even with this (maybe?) low AHI, do you think I could benefit from a CPAP or EPAP anyway to increase oxygen ? Or is that something totally unrelated?
In that case, what could be causing my low oxygen levels at night if not apnea ?
And is the heart rate over 100 and as low as 37 during sleep something to red flag ?
Ahi: 6.9 Oai: 1.4 Cai: 0.3 Lowest desat: 84 Hypopneas: 5.0 per hour / 31 events/ 34.7 mean duration /116.5 max duration

Any red flags here ? To me,, it looks like I barely even qualify as having sleep apnea , but I have felt like absolute garbage for 2 ‘Months straight never feeling rested and feeling faint several times a day. Daytime oxygen levels are normal at 98 and above
Any ideas ?
My resting heart rate is usually low to mid 40s , and last night my Apple Watch noted that it dipped to 37 while asleep. I’ve read varying things on the topic , and apparently a heart rate below 60 is “bad” unless you’re an athlete. I work out quite frequently but I don’t do much cardio. Should I be worried? As noted in another post I have tested positive for sleep apnea but haven’t done my officially in lab study yet, just the at home one .
Thank you for the reply. I’m Just wondering if the anxiety can be during the day like 24/7 around the clock anxiety. Is this normal of sleep apnea or should I get that checked as well via a psychiatrist ?
I just had an in home sleep study done, and it was determined that I do have sleep apnea. Now begins the long road of insurance battling to get an in lab one. In the meantime:
1) can sleep apnea cause anxiety and panic attacks? I have been extremely anxious the past two months and feel as though I haven’t slept in two months either. This all began after a random panic attack with no known trigger.
2) sleep study folks, how long after the in on study did you get your machine and how long thereafter did you feel the effects of it helping ?
Thank you for the reply. I have thought of this as well, and when my symptoms first began a virus is why was suggested by my doctor. The symptoms have never improved , however , so I am searching other avenues . Not sure what else to do since every test has come back negative thus far . Hoping the sleep study sheds some light .
Thank you for the reply .
Yes, blood, iron, vitamin levels, thyroid, heart, lungs, brain have all been scanned. All have come back totally normal. I even had an MRI on my brain and a chest X-ray , and echocardiogram . I’m running out of options, really.
That is very disheartening to hear that even with treatment you are not getting better. I have tried side sleeping without any improvement thus far.
Also, can sleep apnea symptoms appear suddenly as I have mentioned , and is it normal that caffeine and energy drinks have no affect on the fatigue ?
Hello all,
I am here as a last resort of sorts. For the past month and a half I have woken up every day feeling like I haven’t slept. My sleep is not restorative whatsoever, and it is ruining my life. I went from working out 6 days a week to being lethargic, depressed, and feeling generally useless. I am awaiting a sleep study, but there is a two month wait. I have wasted hundreds of dollars on copays and doctors appointments thus far that all come back negative and I am given a clean bill of health. I’m 29 years old.
My wife has in the past stated that she thought I would stop breathing during sleep, and in the past I have woken up gasping for air, but neither of these have occurred in some time now, and my Symptoms have just popped up in the past month.
My issue is that in all the sleep apnea literature and diagnosis tests they are asking questions such as do I fall asleep in public or driving etc. and the answer is no to all of that. Therefore I am at my wits end . Those of you who were diagnosed , did any of you have symptoms such as I am describing ? Just a. General sense that you never got restful sleep and feeling lethargic 24/7? Obviously my sleep study should help, but it’s so far out that I am trying to hear from others to see if I’m even on the right track. I don’t know what else it could possibly be.
If any of you has had these symptoms, did the CPAP fix it?
Thanks for reading, and please let me know if anything I’ve said rang a bell for your prediagnosis symptoms .
