I have a CPAP machine Resmed Airsense 10 with a full mask Resmed AirFit F20. I started treatment last Tuesday. I feel like I lay in bed all night without hardly sleeping at all. The first night I had it on I got nauseated and threw up a couple of times and then they adjusted the settings to lower pressure a 4 and raised the humidity. Now I am not getting sick, but I am also not sleeping. I feel completely exhausted. I'm not sure that I got any sleep at all last night. I need some suggestions or help. I am ready to give this up
i have been on cpap for two years, it takes time to adapt as for the nausea it could be some other issue i do not no i am not a doctor. all i know is you have good nights and bad nights,is your mask fitting properly, are you getting enough pressure, when you say they, do you mean your doctor,i felt that way when i first started cpap and as i say hang in there and give it a shot, how severe is your apnea, wishing you well my friend.

Are you using it only while trying to sleep? Have you tried wearing it and using it while just chilling out and watching tv during the day? That's how I got used to it at first.
The very first time I used a mask was with a full face mask and I found it quite overwhelming and anxiety inducing and couldn't sleep the entire time. I went to a nasal mask and it was quite a different experience. So if time doesn't allow you to adjust I'd consider trying a new mask. Hang in there! I have had some bumps in the road but it's been worth sticking through it.
Hi Jsimms, you posted this 16 days ago so I am wondering how you are doing now with your mask? I just started my cpap about a week ago. I have the nasal pillows. I did get a nasal mask and tried it but unfortunately I felt more confined in it and did not feel as if I were getting enough oxygen. I never vomited however. I also second using it during the day to adjust to it. I do that as well for about an hour.
The nasal pillows have a great seal and that is the problem. By hour two or three I feel like they are touching my eyeballs and I have big boogies in my nose but it is only the pillows. It wakes me up and I count down the hour until I can take it off. I have noticed however that when I am wearing it, my events are down to less than one. This motivates me to keep going until I can wear it a full night. I need to lose weight, my heart needs this, I need more energy. I want to live a long productive life to see my grands grow up.
My father passed away at 48 from a widow maker heart explosion. He was very overweight, had severe sleep apnea for years left untreated that caused obesity and severe heart damage. He was a very trim muscular and strong active man before apnea. I am 41 now so no matter how mild they claim my apnea to be, I will push through this. Don’t give up. Your heart and brain need this. Keep experimenting with the right settings, talk to your doctor, switch out masks if you need to. Just don’t give up. Overcome.
