i am new to using a cpap (now using nasal pillow type)...been using for a month, so i need to know what people are using to stop the movement of the mask and chin strap when they are on long hair. i've tried many things but haven't found anything that works consistently...sometimes a bandanna works, but i can't rely on it all the time....same with other things like wide headbands. i just can't get thru the night without them shifting. i am anxious to get an answer as i haven't been sleeping well for more than a year. i would much appreciate ANY advice you can give me!! i would be glad to get multiple things to try to see what 'fits' best for me. Thanks A LOT!!

One thing that you could try is a specialized type of mask called a Tap-Pap CS. It is secured by an intraoral sleep apnea appliance on the teeth and does not involve extraoral masks or straps except for nasal pillows. Arthur B. Luisi, Jr., D.M.D.

Yeah, that one's pretty bad for slippage. You may find the Respironics Dreamwear with intranasal prongs more stable. The Respironics Nuance is also pretty good.

in case anyone wants a suggestion on the headgear shifting, i purchased the PapCap from cpap.com and the top part does keep the rest of whatever i am wearing from shifting better than anything else i have tried. i am still adjusting the chin strap it has (and is on with velcro so can be removed and top alone can be used) because it is so wide, i may have to cut and sew it so it will be thinner and not affect my throat/breathing.

I found the easiest thing for me to do was to put my hair up in a clip and it's placed in a way that between that and the chin strap it keeps the headgear in place. That doesn't work great if you like to sleep on your back though so I improvise if I want to sleep on my back and do a kind of high messy bun with a pony tail holder that basically does the same thing.
