I use a soft plastic nose mask...it works really well. My problem is that I awake in the night because one nostril gets blocked. When I get up it clears pretty fast. But it still wakes me. I have tried a couple of nasal sprays but they don't seem to work.

Any ideas out there?

I use the ResMed AirFit P10 nasal pillow mask and have congestion issues. That said I do not find it really causes me a problem if I get my nose clear before I go to bed. I occasionally use an Otrivin type spray in one nostril, but try not to use it in both and avoid using it daily. Apparently you can get a rebound effect if it is used too often. I also use tape over my mouth to ensure I breathe through my nose and no air escapes out of my mouth.

Hi dottie1

I like the name. :)

There was a similar discussion just recently although I don't think world peace was actually achieved.

I was trying to understand the difference between the nasal sprays

There seem to be three general groups of nasal sprays

Saline solution that might help treat congestion and allergies?

Decongestant which certainly seems to treat congestion and allergies but shouldn't be used for more than a few days.

It works immediately but only for a few hours.

Steroidal which is also used to treat congestion and allergies but apparently works better if it is used all the time.

It should be taken a few hours prior to bed but it works all night.

I have been using the decongestant type but I read something that implied that the steroid one was a better option.

Which one works best?

Do you have a humidifier? That is good for preventing nasal congestion.
