My roommate burned incense all night, my machine pegged out at 17 and I still wasn't getting enough air!!!

I have to go to new job exhausted another day. No wonder my lungs are hurting.

Your roommate needs to be (nicely) told that burning incense like that is not helping you. I'm not sure what you mean about your machine pegging out at 17 but if the pressure isn't right, then talk to your doctor about changing it.

Hi Hannah14

I presume your 'for her' is still set for 12 - 17 and you are still using the Swift mask?

The incense might be annoying and it might make you feel like you can't breathe but unless it is so dense that the room is a haze it shouldn't be quite that bad.

It sounds like you might have the mask too tight and obstructing good air flow.

It's also possible that you are having an allergic reaction to the incense or some other irritant.

Perhaps a nasal spray and or some antihistamines might help if that is the case.

Hurting lungs is another subject altogether and probably something you should discuss with your doctor.

Thanks Ruby and BUG. My pressure is 12-17 (good memory but my pressure usually tops out at 15.8 max. My SH is all goofed and isn't showing apneas but they were only .83 but my machine was topped off at 17 which is a new high and was flat for a while.

I don't have allergies but I have multiple chemical sensitivity and asthma from previous roommates chemical habits - air freshners, incense, candles, dumping perfume and fixing his house 8 hrs a day - paint, cement, adhesives (they think this started the real lung damage).

I rinse my nose twice a day with saline, use flonase, inhaler, antihistamine with monteklast.

I went to the dr who said my lungs and nose are inflamed and added prednisone. She put in an urgent request for me to see a lung specialist.

I see that there is a pollen filter for the DreamStation. Not sure if that would help.

I use the pollen filter and I have a hepa filter air purifier. Last night I had my first aerophagia, I realized my nose was so stuffed up I was opening my mouth a tiny bit to get air.

I need to move, it is hard when people me up every single day. I'm not getting the benefit of cpap because of them.

There's this lovely little cave on the side of a mountain facing the sunrise with a view over the valleys to the ocean on the horizon and all you can hear at night is the sighing of the breeze through the trees and the trickle of the nearby stream and in the morning you wake to the happy chirping of the birds in the branches as they all gather together to feast on wild berries and make the most awful racket! :O

Moving is not an easy thing to do.

Making a change that major while sleep deprived is very hard. I'm pulling for you! And Gremlin--you've been holding out. First I've heard of this lovely spot!

I did a lot of exploring in the mountains when I was a kid so I know of quite a few caves including some incredible sandstone caves that have been wind carved with all that beautiful honeycomb structure but most of the other caves are dark and cold and damp and surrounded by dense bush.

The other aspects of that scenario would not apply where I grew up because most of our animals are nocturnal and some of them (like the Tasmanian Devil) are quite noisy and almost nothing is edible in the bush here. (no berries)

I have always loved caves and fires. Just a caveman at heart I guess.

The fanciful cave above was inspired by a book written by Jean M Auel

The Clan Of The Cave Bear

Not a good book for CPAP users in the early hours.

If you want to get back to sleep stick to Pride and Prejudice.

Pride and Prejudice works for me.
