Hello All,
I'm looking for some information about keep the CPAP machines clean on a day to day basis.
I know there are so many users of the machine here. I see there are some good products for cleaning CPAP available in the market( ref: http://behindthewash.com/best-soap-and-cleaners-to-clean-cpap-mask/). Can I use such leaners available in the market?
Also what is the frequency you clean the machine?
I also read about SoClean2 product, but that is not very cheap also heard some complaints.
I don't think you need any of those special products. I just use vinegar at full strength. My normal process is to rinse the mask, hose, and humidifier reservoir with pure household vinegar first. Vinegar will remove any mineral deposits and acts as a disinfectant. Next I use a rinse of water and Dawn dishwashing detergent to get the vinegar smell out. Last is a rinse with water, then hang to dry. Best to do it first thing in the morning so the parts have all day to dry. Ideally should be done once a week, but I admit I let is slip a little longer than that at times...
I have CPAP mask wipes that came in my CPAP package but don't use them. I just got hearing aids and I may use the wipes on the hearing aids to use them up. I believe SoClean is unnecessary, and potentially a risk to damage the equipment. Plus with a CPAP, blood glucose meter, hearing aids, and a blood pressure meter, the last thing I need is another medical gadget to take up space!

There should have been cleaning instructions that came with your machine. However, Sierra is right--vinegar does well to get rid of mineral buildup and disinfectant. Rinse really well. I can't say I do a great job of keeping mine clean but haven't had any issues either.
I clean mine weekly. I use hydrogen-peroxide inside of the water reservoir and let it soak a while, rinse with tap water. The hose and face mask I wash with hand soap. That works for me. I found that it is critical to change the filter to avoid lung infections.
Hydrogen peroxide will certainly do a good job of disinfection. However, it will not be as good as vinegar in removing any mineral deposits. The vinegar is acidic and dissolves any minerals left by the water. I have to admit that I cheat now and then and use tap water in the reservoir instead of demineralized, and that certainly leaves a mineral deposit. But even with demineralized water residue does tend to build up over time.
