My ResMed Air10 died in the middle of the night. I have an older CPAP as a spare and have an appointment with the VA to get the Air10 tested and repaired or replaced. I have a lot electronic experience as a computer systems tech. It is very rare to have a power supply go bad. Has anyone had this problem? What was the fix?

Hi MartyB

You've done all the basic elimination diagnosis?

Taken it out to the kitchen, unplugged a device that was definitely working, plugged it in without any multi-gangs, checked and double checked the connections, checked and double checked the on switch.

In my world of probabilities the weakest link is definitely the multi-gang power board.

Presuming you have done all that and there are no lights or messages on the device then returning it may be your only option.

I have read of several instances where the power supply failed on a CPAP, and by this I mean the Power Brick, not an internal failure. But it is definitely not common.

If it is totally dead, the power supply is the most likely cause. You could try wiggling all the connectors. My wife's S9 machine had a problem with a DC to DC converter that she was using when we were in our RV. It turned out to be a loose wire inside the connector that fits into the machine. It was not independently replaceable, so the whole DC to DC converter was replaced under warranty. When you go for your appointment get them to try a new power supply first to see if that fixes it.
