Hey everyone, good to find a forum dedicated to surviving the suck that is sleep apnea. I'm on week two of using my CPAP. I was diagnosed with mild apnea several weeks ago. My AHI was like... 6. Last two nights it has been 1.1.

I started out with the nose mask and couldn't get a good seal. I called the supplier and they recommended a full mask, but one that doesn't go over the bridge of the nose. I still can't get a good seal. Its like the small is too wide for me.

I'm also waking up every evening at around the same time. 230am to 3 every night and I don't know why. Any insight? My husband says I just need time to adjust to it.

Hi ScubaSam

In some cases time can make things better but not always and I'm not sure why you would bother.

If I had an AHI of 6 I'd be out in the driveway sweeping up the shattered remains of my CPAP machine and dumping them into the deepest rubbish bin I could find. (I'm not recommending that you do anything this rash or destructive)

Then I'd go back to my doctor and tell him what he can do with his Sleep Apnea diagnosis and the CPAP prescription.

Not the most tactful statements for an Apnea forum but there are way too many people getting saddled with these cursed machines who would be better off on a different pathway.

It seems to me that there is something seriously wrong with the current system when it comes to Sleep Apnea diagnosis and treatment.

Ok... That completely disregards the intense fatigue I have to the point I was dozing off while driving or when I was at work, the memory problems, the brain fog that mad it hard to do my job but whatever.

Guess I was wrong coming here.

An AHI of 1 is pretty good. I am lucky to get under 3 for AHI. Perhaps your sleep issues are not sleep apnea related?

I didn't mean to be discouraging or unsympathetic ScubaSam

Chronic tiredness, sleepiness, confusion and the resulting chaos and depression are terrible things to be dealing with and warrant serious attention and real solutions.

It's just that I feel that the effort and disruption of adapting to a CPAP machine is most likely greater than any potential benefit if you only have an AHI of 6 to start with. Perhaps I got that wrong?
