I have recently been told I have Obstructed sleep apnea. On a test 5 years ago I was told I have central sleep apnea. Is it common to have different results? The first test was with a full lab while the second test was a in home study. A read where the Home study equipment was not effective for central sleep apnea. I tried a CPAP machine before with out much result. The current doctor want me to use the machine again. I am getting too much conflicting info. What question should I ask the doctor to get complete information? Did I use the wrong Home study equipment?
The results from the full lab are likely to be more accurate and comprehensive than what you would receive from a home study. If I were you, I would ask the doctor about getting a new sleep study in the lab so that you have recent data. If your doctor wants you to use the cpap there is a reason. You will gain health by getting back on it and you likely need new data for the doctor to determine the proper settings. Good luck!

I wouldn't get hung up on whether you have central, obstructive or mixed apnoeas. As long as CPAP fixes it, then that is what matters. And by fixes it, I mean that a sleep study has verified that while you are using it your breathing is good.
I guess my issue is does the CPAP fix the issue. The machine and study said the problem was fixed but I was more tired when on the machine than off. When on the machine I would fall asleep more time in the day than off. Major sleepy time in the day. The first doctor did no believe me that my condition got worst. I have to listen to my body. I am in a new city now and want to get the right information to this doctor.
