I just replied to sleeptech within the following thread "Switching from CPAP to APAP without sleep doctor-Starting settings?". Does he get an alert to my reply. Otherwise, since it posts in the middle of a thread it seems as if everyone who had previously read the thread would just go to the end and not notice the new post. What actually happens?

I have never received a notice so I don't think so. The only thing I see is when I log in, if I responded to a thread it will tell me how many new comments are there.

Hi ReliableCarmineQuetzal, notifications work in the following manner: (1) If you reply at the bottom of a thread, then the thread author receives an in-app notification (the little notification bell in the menu turns orange). (2) If you reply to another reply (a nested reply) then the person you're replying to is notified by an in-app notification. We are trying to make the notifications you get meaningful, and not inundate you with too many notifications. The forum itself tracks approximately how far you have read through a thread itself, and that's what SleepMommy is referring to.
So to answer your question, SleepTech should have an in-app notification, and you should receive a similar notification for this reply.
MyApnea does not send out notifications by email (we try to send out as few emails as possible). The team is looking at adding the ability to subscribe and unsubscribe from a forum thread. In this case, you would get a notification on any comment in that thread.
Let me know if you have any other questions. We're pushing a large update for MyApnea soon that should further improve using the forum, but I'll start a dedicated thread to discuss those changes.
edit: You are now auto-suscribed to notifications for a topic when you leave a reply. Read this thread for more details.
