I am fairly new to using a cpap but have found it to be an amazing tool to lower my blood pressure. When I started my bp was 200+ on a daily basis and had been for years...after getting diagnosed with sleep apnea and starting on the cpap my bp is now down to 130/80. Wow cannot believe how much better I feel...to bad doctors did not look into things a bit more prior to my bp causing other medical issues am looking forward to reading all the posts I will certainly be able to pick up some pointers

Sleep apnea can affect several areas of health including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and weight gain. There is a lot of good information on here and great support. I'm glad you are feeling better!
Laura, same boat here... I was badly diagnosed with blood pressure and given pills for years, now I am no longer taking pills while being treated for sleep apnea.
Getting your OSA diagnosed and treated is still a hit or miss proposition. 80 to 90 percent of the people who suffer from it have no idea they have it.
Consider yourself one of the lucky ones. You've been diagnosed and are apparently in fairly successful treatment. I, along with many other people was diagnosed with insomnia for thirty years, when the real problem was that I obstructing 83 times an hour during REM sleep. This runs in families, so keep an eye out for undiagnosed family members.
