My ResMed AirSense 10 stopped working. My technician sent it back and ResMed said I got it wet and wouldn’t fix it. I didn’t get it wet, their humidifier got it wet. What do they think I did, put it in the sink. Defects in the machine got it wet. Has anyone else had this problem? I intend to take them to court after I file an mda with the FDA. I can definitely say I won’t be buying another ResMed product.

Hi cultleader,

CPAP machines are not foolproof nor faultless.

This forum seems to have a strong bias in favour of Resmed machines.

It's good to see a critical comment from time to time.

I'm amazed by how unaccountable the industry seems to be here in Australia.

All I can say is that I have not had a problem (yet!) with my A10, and my wife after 4+ years has no problem with her older S9.

This said, I have had problems with my wife's S9 12 volt to 24 volt converter. Two have failed now. Defective from the factory.

I suspect it all comes down to Lemony Snicket's approach to the world. (A Series of Unfortunate Events)

I returned my first Resmed S9 because it was shutting itself down.

I think they simply issued me another one.

The second one I returned because it kept electrocuting me.

Once again they simply issued me with another one.

I believe that Resmed's protocols are seriously inadequate.

There seems to be no requirement for follow-up or accountability.

It seems that in practice, toy makers have more controls and safety requirements than CPAP manufacturers.

My S8 humidifier does not seam to work. It’s old. The store I got it from stopped dealing with CPAP stuff. Never thought go contact ResMed. Good luck.

I'm beginning to think something is wrong with my Airsense 10. My leak rate has gone WAY up the past 8 months, though I'm using the same mask, tubing, etc. (replaced every 3-4 months). But, when I did a sleep study last month using the same style mask - Dreamwear Nasal mask - my leak rate was zero. Seems to me that my machine may be the problem. Thoughts?????

Humidifiers are a common source of leaks, Also cats and dogs and CPAP hoses are not always compatible ;-)

How can you tell if they're leaking? And, you mean the actual reservoir?

There are three silicone seals to check for damage. One seals the top and bottom half of the reservoir. The other two are inside and seal two air ports into and out of the reservoir. See page 24 in the clinical manual at this link.

How did it get wet? Was machine turned off with humidifier still attached (though you would think it should survive this if the board was treated). Did you knock it over with the humidifier attached? Did you pack it with some water still in the humidifier? Just food for thought. One thing though, did it get wet while in transit? If it did you may have a claim against the shipping agent? Overfilling the humidifier is another problem, but it needs to be well overfilled and it usually runs out the back of the humidifier jug before you can get to that point. Did you get the machine returned to you, without it you may not have a case to take to court. I would ask ResMed for a detailed report as to how they think it was damaged by water.
