Sierra - Thanks, can you show me a SH report example that indicates desaturation? How can I print a SH report?
Big...Their web shows a $49 price. Sounds good for what it alleges to report. Keep us posted.
Anyone with AFIB tried those devices?
Hey, Abbyone, thanks for update. What amount are you taking in Mgs and when?
Looking at oxcimeters that Sleepyhead supports and time synchs BIPAP data. They seem to be all finger mounts. Also like looks of bracelet Kogan Pulse+ Wellbeing Tracker that somebody mentioned. https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-pulse-plus-wellbeing-tracker/ But they are Aussie Co. and can't ship until Mar 13th. Any body using this yet? Issues? Or any alternative? It reports Bluetooth to Smartphone, would have to manually view and connect to Sleepyhead reports I guess.
All AFIB detectors I've seen require fingers from both hands to simultaneously be read for 30 secs and report to Smartphone. Can't figure out how to do that while "sleeping peacefully" with my BIPAP. (LOL) Any ideas? Any home version ECG devices with stick on wires available?
She works thru sleep clinic and coords that with Drs orders and with equipment supplier. She seems a liaison for patient between Dr., sleep lab, equip provider who arranges/structures my insurance coverage as a 13 month rent to own. I have 30 days to get the right mask, etc to suit my needs. If I don't comply by using CPAP properly (min 4hr sleep) they take it away and I still have to make payments. (I think!) It seemed very confusing at the beginning, but I think I got it. The DME sends my parts as they are needed to replace wear and tear. Cigna covers 80% and DME has my credit card to bill 20 % for my share as needed. On day 15. We'll see how it goes.
14 days into BIPAPville. Somewhere I read that putting mask and hose into 167 degree water would clean them up. Others here have mentioned boiling water. Too hot? Some time ago I bought a cooking gadget, Anova Sous Vide Immersion Circulator Cooker. Clamp it into a pot of water and it heats water to an exact degree. Controllable even by your smart phone. Check Amazon. <$100. You heat water to exact temp, put food into ziploc bag and suspend in water, time it, and it's cooked. I plan to use this to "sterilize my BIPAP gear that needs cleaning. Dual function: CPAP-Food.
My Dr. uses a coordinator that fits the masks and explains machine operation. She is extremely busy and has no direct phone #. I insisted on at least an email. That is helping me get new fittings/changes during my first 30 days. After that I'm stuck with whatever I have. Or pay myself, not insurance covered.
I tried, but didn't like taping mouth. It left a "clammy feeling" in my mouth in AM. I'm trying a Dreamwear Full Face with hose attached at top of head frame starting tonight.
How can you measure AFIB while you're sleeping with CPAP? Devices I've found online require hands-on while awake. Then you'd have connect it to CPAP time hack for an "event". How do you know your AFIB is controlled "lugnut"?
I'm in Houston on day 13 with Resmed Aircurve 10 S BIPAP (trying to get swapped to AUTO version) It's set to deliver level 16 pressure in and 12 out. Started with Resmed F20 mask, kept waking up fiddling with mask because of major leaks. Tightened to stop leaks and pressure on face was uncomfortable and left facial marks in AM. Didn't like restricted vision and couldn't use glasses very well to read screen. Next tried a Resperonics Dreamwear Nose Pillow, Medium frame, Large pillow. Worked better and hose attached at top of head instead in front, better mobility, finally got leakage under control. Not a mouth breather, but still exhaled a little from mouth every 5-10 breaths, which woke me, so I taped lips, (suggested on this Forum), which eliminated that. Didn't like tape much. Requested a revisit with Dr's. sleep and fitting coordinator for a refitting. She suggested try a Resperonics Dreamwear Full Face Mask this morning and fitted it. Tried it on 1 hr nap this PM and seems OK so far. Hose attaches at top of head, straps allow good fit adjustment. Can use my glasses better than Resmed F20 mask. I hope problem is solved. Still going to lobby for AUTO machine. Tonight we'll see about new mask.
With humans having such a variety of face shapes it seems we're stuck with trial and error on the masks. I'm hoping getting a REAL full night of sleep will resolve my myriad of health issues over time. It's a shame that the "sleep industry" doesn't have an easier method of getting us started on the best solution from the get-go.
Super big THANK YOU to all the contributors who have made this Forum so valuable for us out here "bumping" along the path to good quality slumber!

How do you monitor your AFib? I was diagnosed over 10 yrs ago and do no home monitoring. Probably should now that I'm 12 days into BIPAP living. My doc sent me to cardiologist to have EKG tested before undergoing general anesthesia procedure. His EKG passed me for anesthesia OK, but he said I should get a sleep test! I thought that odd, but now understand. He didn't recommend home tracking for Afib. But I'm calling him today to get his thoughts, and tell him I'm BIPAPing.
Thanks for article Sierra. I wonder if insurance would cover monitors with prescription?
